A Letter from the Pastor

Thank you for visiting St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church website. St. Jude is a multi-cultural parish. Our parish family of faith is made up of Caucasians, Filipinos, African-Americans, and recent immigrants from different parts of Africa.

Though many, we consider ourselves one – one baptism, one spirit, one body of Christ, one family of faith. As our mission states:

We, the family of faith of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in South Holland, nourished by the Word of God and Sacraments, commit ourselves to know, love and celebrate Jesus the Christ.

Here at St. Jude, each of us is nourished by Christ in Word and strengthened in the Sacraments to know, love and live Christ. This does not mean that we are spared from challenges and difficulties. Rather, what it says to us is that we must face those challenges together with love, for where love is, there is Christ. As Pope Benedict XVI pointed out to the young people of the world in 2008:

Our hearts and minds are yearning for a vision of life where love endures, where gifts are shared, where unity is built, where freedom finds meaning in truth and where identity is found in respectful communication. This is the hope held out by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is to bear witness to this reality that you were created anew at baptism and strengthened through the gifts of the Spirit at confirmation (Origins, July 2008).

St. Jude is named after an Apostle. An Apostle is one who is sent. We, like our patron saint, Jude, are sent. We are sent to know, love, live, and celebrate Jesus the Christ.

Once again, thank you for visiting St. Jude the Apostle website. If you are ever in the South Holland area of Illinois, please do not hesitate to come and worship with us. We look forward to meeting you and to celebrate the Eucharist with you. God Bless.

  Yours in Christ,

Fr. Ignatius Ike Anaele
