Adult Education takes many forms at our parish. Several programs are offered throughout the year. These include Disciples in Mission, speakers during Lent and Advent, an annual Parish Mission, Scripture studies and other family activities. These programs are designed to promote a better understanding of our religious doctrines, practices and traditions and especially to nurture a love for the Word of God. RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This ministry is especially designed to welcome people into the Catholic Church by initiating them into the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This initiation takes place takes place at the Easter Vigil, Holy Saturday Evening. Our program is supported by a team of parishioners who are very friendly and knowledgeable in our Catholic Faith. They not only teach and instruct, but also guide and encourage those candidates who our preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation. The group meets on Sunday mornings and every Monday evening. Religious Education Program for Children As a community of faith, we have the responsibility of sharing that faith with our youth. Our formal program is viewed as complement to and not a substitute for the Christian formation of children by parents in the home. In our Religious Education Program, the student is exposed to the proclamation of Good News in the Gospel and to an expression of faith as it is celebrated and lived in the Catholic tradition. Catechists who work with the students are carefully trained and encouraged to apply for certification by the Archdiocese of Chicago Office for Religious Education which offers courses for these volunteers. Food Pantry Our food pantry provides food and personal care items for residents in need. Volunteers and donates of food are always needed. If you are in need of our services or can volunteer your time or nonperishable food products, please call the Social Ministry Office at 708-849-2010
Ministry of Care is a group dedicated parishioners who have been trained and mandated by the Archdiocese of Chicago to bring Eucharist to the homebound, those in nursing homes and the hospitalized. Please call the Social Ministry Office at 708-849-2010 to arrange a visit or for more information.
Bereavement Support Group meets to counsel and encourage those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Please call the Social Ministry Office at 708-849-2010
Liturgical Music has always been of importance to our parish. Our choir sings each Sunday at the 10:00AM Mass and practices on Thursday evenings. To join the Choir or to become a Cantor call the Rectory at 708-333-3550.
Liturgical Ministries Cantors (leaders of song), Musicians, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Altar Servers enhance are Liturgies and perform important ministries. We are always in need of help in these various ministries. Call the Rectory at 708-333-3550 to volunteer or for more information on training and participating.
